Kono

I was going to wait and do an omnibus TV post at the end of the week, after I'd caught up with comments, etc.

But no, this episode filled me with too much DELIGHT to wait.

Here's how I imagine the script meeting going:

TPTB: Listen up, people: this time, we want the badass dialed up to eleven.

Writers: Eleven, gotcha. Steve goes to eleven this week.

TPTB; No. Uh-uh. Not just Steve. Everyone. Everyone to eleven. And that includes the guest stars, folks. We want them barefoot, bloody and badass.

Writers: Okey-dokey. We'll get right on that, then.

But really, only one thing came close to topping my delight at Martin-Sheen-in-Apocalypse-Now!Steve taking time out from his jungle booby-traps to talk Danny down from his anxiety attack ("I have a face, you have a tone" OMG), and that was Steve's mad field medicine skillz ('cause y'all know I have a THING for that).

I kept thinking that the Danny plot line might tie back to the Brenner plot line, but, y'know, then Kono came in and showed off those rabbit kicks she learned from Steve and I totally forgot to worry about it.

DELIGHT!

  • I thought for sure they were going to tie in, too, but it's fine that they didn't. I loved pretty much everything in this episode--the working relationships, the family relationships, the awesome female badassery, Steve in jungle camo, Danny being a scary little fucker, Chin saving the suspect. So much good stuff!
    • SO MUCH--and so much caring for each other amid the badassery!

I loved that it was a little thought experiment to separate them all and give them each their own badass thing to do *g*
  • Wait, I'm all confused. Was last night the new ep or tonight?

I hold you responsible for my new addiction... I'm way too unorganized to be responsible for a new show. :)
    • tonight, bb! the new episode just finished here--it might not have played out there yet. This one was worth catching even if you weren't addicted to the show :)
  • THIS EPISODE WAS MADE OF WIN.
  • This ep WAS awesome! Definitely bad-assery all around!
    Plus.
Danny did have a tone. :D
    • It was so awesome I may never watch another TV show. Seriously, usually I watch White Collar on Tuesdays, but last night, I just didn't feel the need *g*

Steve knows all Danny's tones!! And is such a good boyfriend partner he will make time to really listen even while he is tracking trained killers through the jungle.
  • Martin-Sheen-in-Apocalypse-Now!Steve taking time out from his jungle booby-traps to talk Danny down from his anxiety attack

This! The whispering, the making the face at Danny over the phone while making man traps. I loved it so much. Also, Chin being awesome and riding things!! ♥

This show, next week it will probably dial everyone up to twelve and we'll all die!
    • Death-by-Hawaii-Five-O might not be such a bad way to go!

That scene may have ruined me for all other TV. I was so sated with Steve/Danny that I didn't even bother to watch White Collar last night. Steve is the best boyfriend partner ever--he will make time for your issues even while tracking trained killers through the frigging jungle.

And then, like we hadn't had enough already, there was Chin on a motorcycle and Kono kicking ass.

  • So much win! I actually have a story in the works that involves Steve's badass in-the-field medical training, so yay! I was totally right.

And the face/tone conversation while Steve is in the jungle making man-traps and whispering fiercely at Danny over the phone MADE MY DAY. OMG.

    Also: FACE PAINT!

Chin! \o/ I want an episode about Kono now, please!
    • IKR? I may have a new standard for TV shows. People will tell me that an episode is good, but I'll be all "Yeah? But does someone re-inflate someone's lung with a twig? Yeah. I didn't think so."

(not that I thought it was OOC to have Steve pop Kono's dislocated knee back in in "Rainbow," but I'm glad his field medicine skills are canon now too!)

That conversation was the best thing ever! And the motorcycle! And Kono kicking ass!

Okay, that made me laugh really hard. :D

And how much did that scene break my heart when Danny watched Grace take Step-Stan's hand and walk away? *bawls*
        • oh, I know! It's kind of impressive the way the show gives us the characters as stone-cold BAMFs, and still makes space for them to be so touching. I'm not much for child actors, but the face on the little girl who plays Grace? kills me--

This is EXACTLY what happened. I think every week should be "dial everyone up to 11" week.

Once again, Steve owns my heart and loins for his SEAL skills.
    • OMG, Steve dialed the competency kink up to 11 right there. Maybe 12.

I have to update my Steve McGarrett is awesome list.

      1. He sews
      2. He drinks tea.
      3. He always makes time to be a good listener. No really. Always. Even in full Rambo facepaint while tracking trained killers through the jungle. He's there for you.
      4. On occasion, he'll leave the ninja take downs to the ladies.

      *faints*
  • I was so thoroughly entertained *whee!* I think I might need a cigarette now, and I don't even smoke. And there were a few things of ridiculousness that made it even more awesome!

Also DDK + messy hair = made up for no shirtlessness. ALL IS FORGIVEN.
    • IKR? That phone conversation, for instance, went right out the other side of ridiculous into pure awesome. Same with Chin's wild motorcycle ride.

You know, DDK is so hot with his shirt on, we might all expire on the spot if he took it off. Just saying.
      • we might all expire on the spot if he took it off
